Missions
Mission:
Fulfilling the great commission at home and around the world.
Joe & Jenny Mifsud:
Joe’s father was born on the Island of Malta, the site of the Apostle Paul’s Shipwreck mentioned in the book of Acts 28:1. God burdened Joe and Jenny’s heart for the Nation of Malta. They served as church planting missionaries to Malta for nine years from 1983-1992. With the help of God, Joe and Jenny founded the Bible Baptist Church in Gzira, Malta. A building was constructed and in time a national pastor began to lead the church. After 9 years of missionary work in Malta, they left the Island in 1992. Joe and Jenny thought their time of missionary service was behind them. But on a visit to Malta in 2003 they found the Bible Baptist Church was struggling and membership had declined. The Mifsuds were asked by the church if they could return to Malta as missionaries to assist in reaching the needy nation with the gospel once again. Joe and Jenny were approved by Baptist Mid-Missions in July of 2005, with Oakland Baptist Church of Novi, Michigan being their sending church. The Mifsuds returned to Malta in June of 2007 to help provide leadership for the Bible Baptist Church, preaching and teaching the Word of God, making disciples, baptizing those who believe, and helping expand the ministries of the church. The church has grown in size and attendance, and a weekly Bible study has begun on the sister island of Gozo. Because of the multitude of open doors for ministry and increasing ministry demands, the Mifsuds had been praying for God to send them helpers through Baptist Mid-Missions. In 2017, the Josh and Erica Burrill family, who had been serving on another field, moved to Malta to join the work. Even with two families serving, the needs of a new church plant in Gozo, the student ministry potential, and the need for additional church plants meant more laborers were needed. The Luke and Anna Tanis family, with Baptist Mid-Missions, arrived on the field in 2021 to help meet these needs.
